Diwali…most awaited festival by all..!!Diwali is lights..Diwali is shopping..Diwali is family and friends get together and most important Diwali is Food, Party and Sweets.
Don’t worry my friends… enjoy Diwali by eating wisely.
SKIPPING MEALS??? NAHH…! Do not skip a meal to compensate the calories you will be consuming from party foods. Instead have some Salads, Fruits or drink Lime Water, Buttermilk, Vegetable Juice or Soup before you go for a party. This is just to avoid overeating at the party.
EAT KNOWINGLY: Select baked/ steamed /grilled foods over deep fried foods. Pick up starters prepared from veggies and paneer. Drink Lime Water, Chaas, Jaljeera or just plain water over aerated, alcohol based or sugar loaded drinks.
DESERT: Desert / Mithai is considered as a symbol of sharing happiness and strengthen bonding between people. You too can relish a desert. But keep in mind… Moderation is the Key…!! A small portion of a Laddoo,3-4 Shakarpli, Rasgullas and Fruit based or low fat Milk sweets will be healthier options. Try to eat sweets in lunch or as a snack itself.
GO NUTS: Nuts like dates, figs, raisins can be used as a natural sweetener while cooking at home.
EAT KIDS’ PORTION: Serve yourself just like kids. Smaller servings of delicacies will help you consume fewer calories. Take small bites at a time. Do not stuff yourself. Follow the rule of digestion, chew each bite 32 times. These simple tips will help you controlled eating.
BE ACTIVE: Be active throughout these days. Go for walk, do not skip exercise schedule, use stairs, play games like treasure hunt which involve movement. A dance party will be enjoyed by all.
Happy Diwali…!!!
